Kokedama Workshop

Explore the beautiful, minimalist Japanese craft of kokedama — a form of bonsai where a plant’s roots are wrapped in clayy soil, covered with moss, and bound with string to create a living moss ball. In this hands-on workshop you’ll choose a plant, learn soil and moss techniques, assemble your kokedama, and leave with a ready-to-hang living piece and the know-how to care for it.

This workshop is fun, slightly messy (bring clothes you don’t mind getting a little soil on), and perfect for beginners interested in houseplants, DIY decor, and unique gift ideas. All materials — pots/molds, soil mix, moss, string, and plants — are included. Seating is limited, so please pre-register.

Who it’s for: Ages 15+ (teens and adults).
What to bring (optional): Towel or small tray to take home your kokedama; small keepsakes to tuck into the moss if you like.
Care note: Instructors will explain watering and hanging care; kokedama generally need occasional soaking or misting depending on plant type.
